Celebrated singer-songwriter Andy Stochansky makes a heartfelt return with his new single “Stupid Perfect,” a stirring preview of his upcoming solo album Poetry of Birds. Blending poetic lyricism with raw emotional insight, the Canada-born, LA-based artist offers a song that captures the kind of love that feels so right, it almost doesn’t make sense.

“One morning, I was trying to challenge myself to come up with a title even more positive than ‘Shine,’” says Stochansky. “I landed on ‘Stupid Perfect’ and imagined this couple who decided, in that moment, to finally call their relationship what it was—amazing. The first time I played it live, two women came up after and said they’d decided to get married to the song. How cool is that?”

Authentic, cinematic, and deeply human

“Stupid Perfect” wraps honest emotion in a warm, organic soundscape, reflecting Stochansky’s signature approach—authentic, cinematic, and deeply human. The single sets the tone for Poetry of Birds, a reflective and hopeful collection shaped by nature, solitude, and an evolving sense of self.

A former touring drummer for Ani DiFranco, Stochansky has built a multi-faceted career that spans continents and genres. He’s penned chart-toppers like Shannon Noll’s “Shine”, collaborated with Goo Goo Dolls, Dragonette, and Lola Lennox, and contributed songs to major films and TV series, including The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.

After launching the critically acclaimed White Elephant Orchestra project in 2020—earning a feature on NPR’s World Café—Stochansky returns to his roots with Poetry of Birds, a solo album steeped in reflection and vulnerability.
