Phenomenal two-time Grammy Award winning rock band, Living Colour released a Remastered EP of their classic hit CULT OF PERSONALITY. The EP contains seven songs of previously released material and for the first time includes the original long version of What’s Your Favorite Color? (Theme Song.) This version has not been available on streaming services until now.
Tracks on the new EP include: Cult Of Personality, Funny Vibe (Funky Vibe Remix), Should I Stay Or Should I Go?, What’s Your Favorite Color? (Leblanc Remix), Middle Man (Live at the Cabaret Metro – Nov 1990), Cult Of Personality (Live at the Ritz – April 1989) and What’s Your Favorite Color? (Theme Song).
History
The song Cult of Personality was originally released on July 14, 1988 and is the first track on the band’s epic multi-platinum debut VIVID. The critically acclaimed album was one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s 100 Best Albums of the Eighties.
Cult of Personality was produced and mixed by Ed Stasium. Written and performed by Vernon Reid Guitar, Vocals, Composer and Lyrics, Will Calhoun Composer, Lyrics, Percussion and Vocals; Corey Glover Vocals, Composer and Lyrics, Muzz Skillings Bass, Vocals, Composer and Lyrics.
The song hit number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 9 on Billboard Album Rock Tracks. In 1989 the song’s video won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Group Video while the band picked up Best New Artist. It’s one of VH1’s 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs and Reid’s guitar solo is one of Guitar World’s 100 Greatest Guitar Solo’s.
TOURING
The band played in Los Angeles on February 28th at at The Bellwether wrapping up their 2024 US tour with Extreme last week in Kentucky. They will be out the road again this summer beginning May 9th at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, FL; May 18th at Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, OH, June 15th in Lisbon, Portugal at Rock in Rio Lisboa, and July 6th at SummerFest in Milwaukee WI before dates in the EU and UK.
