Joey J. Haley’s Trans Directorial Debut begins streaming 10/1 on Open TV & Red Coral.
LOS ANGELES, CA – Pushing new boundaries in the medium of film, this anarchist, abolitionist, queer short film created independently by a trans-led cast & crew is a first flag signal of where our industry is headed next. Spies in Corsets (screened at Los Angeles Trans Film Festival and New FilmMakers LA Film Festival) will be available on two streaming platforms on Oct 1st with Open TV & Red Coral.
In Spies in Corsets, two spies are ready to embark on the night of their mission after three months of prep. As their unprofessional feelings come to light, so do their opposite political stances.
The 14-Minute Film stars Chloe Baldwin (Mornying Knight, Steppenwolf, Goodman, Morning is Broken, Shining Girls, Utopia) (she/they/he) as ‘Marcy’ and Jewell Karinen (The Party, Ghostfriend, Host of the Parasocial Social Club Podcast) (she/her) as ‘Odi’. These two queer actors are well known across the LA scene for their Queer and Nerd-forward roles, both in live performance and in film and television. Karinen has garnered over 800K views as ‘Ecstasy’ in The Party and Baldwin has a huge social media presence with a combined 100K followers.
Director & Writer Joey J. Haley is an established Steadicam operator who has worked with icons such as Dorian Electra, Sinead Hartnett, and even the LA Opera, which has cemented her place in the industry as an artist who explores perception, challenging traditional storytelling and audience assumptions through embodiment. He is the founder of Los Angeles Trans Film Festival, the first event of its kind in Los Angeles, hosted at the historic Akbar. Spies in Corsets marks his directorial debut, with two international feature projects on the horizon.
