Theatre 68 presents BROOKLYN’S WAY… A world premiere production by critically acclaimed playwright Sam Henry Kass.  Ronnie Marmo will be directing this irreverent dramatic comedy that will run September 7 – October 13, 2024 at the The Rosalie Theatre at Theatre 68 Arts Complex (5112 Lankershim Blvd. NoHo, CA 91601) Friday & Saturday, 8pm and Sunday, 7pm. They met on a studio lot. He’s a quirky veteran writer, emotionally fractured by his belief that he has “sold out” creatively… She’s a young and fierce writer’s assistant, intrigued by his talent, and fearful of his inability to avoid self-destructing. Two people now aligned forever, yet separated by life and the circumstances they both face. One needing desperately to confront his past, the other trying to define her future. “BROOKLYN’S WAY….” An impossible choice with life-long regrets and repercussions.

Sam Henry Kass is from Brooklyn. His critically acclaimed plays which have been

He’s the writer/director of the cult classic film, The Search For One-Eye Jimmy, starring Steve Buscemi, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, John Turturro, Jennifer Beals, Tony Sirico & Anne Meara… In addition, Sam is the writer/director of the MGM/Showtime film, Body & Soul, featuring Joe Mantegna, Michael Chiklis, Rod Steiger, Jennifer Beals, & Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini…

Television

For Television he was Executive Consultant on SEINFELD, & wrote the classic episode The Switch, where Kramer’s first name was revealed as “Cosmo.” In addition, Sam has created and written many pilots for NBC, CBS, FOX & ABC.  For the web, he is the Co-Creator/writer/director of the groundbreaking series, STAR-ving,featuring David Faustino, Corin Nemec, Ed O’Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate and Gilbert Gottfried. Sam’s memoir, “Who Do I Have To F**k To Get Off This Show,” will be Published in 2025.

In addition to being the Artistic Director of THEATRE 68 for the past 23 years, Marmo is an actor/producer/director/writer, who has managed to call both the East and West coasts home during his twenty-five-year career.

As an actor, he is most recently known for his stellar performance in his one-man show, I’m Not A Comedian… I’m Lenny Brucewhich he also penned – directed by Tony award winning Stage  and Television star, Joe Mantegna. The show is currently on a World-Wide Tour and just celebrated 7 years 450 performances. We are also on tour with Bill W and Dr Bob which Marmo has directed this play 6 times over 20 years and nearly 500 performances. After multiple sit-down engagements in LA, Bill W and Dr. Bob just wrapped a 3-month run in Chicago with multiple extensions and we are in the midst of building out the National Tour.

Marmo has starred in more than 70 feature films and television shows, some of his favorites are guest starring on “FBI: Most Wanted”, “Criminal Minds” and “Lethal Weapon.” He also starred in “Ammore E Malavita (Love and Bullets),” an Italian musical film which won the David di Donatello for best picture (the Italian equivalent to an Academy Award). Other credits include: Marmo enjoyed a three-year run on ABC’s “General Hospital” as Ronnie Dimestico. On stage, he has starred in more than 40 plays. Marmo voiced the audiobook in which he portrays Lenny Bruce in Lenny’s autobiography, “How to Talk Dirty and Influence People.”

Originally from Atlanta, Amye Partain began her acting journey in Los Angeles four years ago when she moved out here to attend The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After finishing their two-year conservatory program, she auditioned for their third year Company and got in, finishing up that season just last year. Having almost 15 years of theatrical experience, some of her many credits include: Pride and Prejudice, Book of Days, The Seagull, God of Carnage, The Tempest, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Frankenstein. 

JONATHAN R. FREEMAN as Scoot

Jonathan R. Freeman

Jonathan R. Freeman is a New Mexico born, Texas raised, New York City forged, LA living actor/artist/writer/country music superstar. He’s been on TV and in the movies. Voiced video games and beer commercials. Treaded the boards performing everything from Shakespeare to Ragtime and has been singing his songs on stage in one form or another for god knows how long. His current project is Johnny Maria and The Lights, a Southern-fried, Cali-fied Texas tornado of good times.
