Don’t Miss My Birthday Party at Cafe Club Fais Do-Do

A poster for My Birthday Party at Cafe Club Fae Do Do in Los Angeles. A platform with balloons shaped in the words "My Birthday Party. A bear stands on the platform with the words "an immersive theatrical celebration" written on the side, a crescent shape hangs from the middle of the platform and an aerialist acrobat dangles from a rope to the right of the crescent.

See stories by Carl Sandburg and Viggo Mortensen come to life!

My Birthday Party is a joyous, all-ages spectacle that sweeps you off your feet — acrobats and aerialists from Cirque du Soleil soaring overhead, clowns turning the room upside down, and a roller coaster ride through a fantastical celebration of life that reminds every person in the room — young or old — why it feels so good to be alive. Performances are Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 2 PM.

The immersive theatre celebration is the work of SPRUNG, a collective of three powerhouse artists and co- creators: director Daniel Passer, choreographer Bianca Sapetto, and composer Veronika Krausas. Together they transform stories by Pulitzer Prize winner Carl Sandburg and Viggo Mortensen into a high-octane celebration of life.

Brightwork newmusic

Brightwork newmusic is the only organization in Southern California with a performing ensemble, monthly concert series and educational initiatives all focused through the lens of contemporary classical music. Our monthly concert series, Tuesdays @ Monk Space, presents cutting edge works by both established and emerging artists in a funky former speakeasy near downtown LA.

Brightwork Ensemble is a sextet of Grammy winning and nominated musicians who are fluent in many musical styles and who perform and record actively across Southern California and beyond. The ensemble is a favorite of composers: they have been engaged for hundreds of world premieres and premiere recordings.  They are also frequently presented by local venues and series to bring their unique blend of exquisite artistry, innovative programming, and sense of fun.  Project Beacon is our educational arm, bringing Brightwork Ensemble to sit in residence at colleges, universities, youth orchestras, and community music programs to mentor the next generation of musical artists. Project Beacon also includes the High School Composer Initiative, our signature effort to increase diversity and remove historical barriers to achievement for the next generation of composers.
