Drops today on Easy Star Records
After re-emerging this summer with the single “Yearning”—a powerful collaboration with the legendary Sly & Robbie—DOUBLE TIGER’s Jay Spaker returns with a brand new single, “Love Garden,” out today, November 21st via Easy Star Records. The accompanying music video premiered exclusively on Reggaeville.com November 19th.
Once again teaming with longtime John Brown’s Body collaborator Lee Hamilton, Spaker delivers a horn-heavy meditation on reconnecting to simplicity, community, and compassion. Mixed by Craig Welsch (aka Dub Fader of 10 Ft. Ganja Plant), “Love Garden” leans into luminous brass, warm bass, and Spaker’s distinctive blend of melodic roots and dub-influenced vocal stylings.
“As world turbulence grows, we must stay grounded in love and connection to survive,” Jay says of the new track.
Collaborating with icons…
Double Tiger is no stranger to acclaim. Spaker spent more than a decade shaping the forward-thinking sound of John Brown’s Body, touring nationally and internationally with Rebelution, Chronixx, Slightly Stoopid, Stick Figure, Morgan Heritage, Dirty Heads, Thievery Corporation, and many others. He is also the co-founder of Dub-Stuy Records, championing sound system culture while collaborating with icons such as Luciano, Johnny Osbourne, Lutan Fyah, Omar Perry, Eek-A-Mouse, Scientist, Rankin Joe, and Brother Culture.
His debut album Sharp & Ready bowed at #3 on the iTunes Reggae Chart and #5 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums Chart. Its follow-up, The Journey (2020), climbed even higher—#2 iTunes, #4 Billboard—and was submitted for Grammy consideration. The album featured appearances from Slightly Stoopid, The Movement, New Kingston, and Arise Roots, with a track landing on the Hulu series High Fidelity soundtrack.
Whether performing solo or backed by his full band, Double Tiger’s live show is a vibrant fusion of modern soul-roots reggae, early dancehall energy, and UK-style dub. Spaker moves seamlessly between singjay delivery and sharp, rhythmic phrasing—balancing love songs, militant commentary, and meditative anthems. His performances are anchored by thick bass lines, dynamic horns, and a heavy sound system sensibility.
“Double Tiger is that something special that the American reggae scene has been waiting for… primed & ready to make waves.” — Rootfire
