Enjoy CicLAvia’s Pop-Up Park for the Day in People-Powered Ways

Three Miles of Open Streets Connecting Santa Monica Blvd and Westwood Blvd

On Sunday, April 26, between 9am – 4pm, CicLAvia kicks off its 65^th car-free open streets event, and first of 2026, catalyzing vibrant public spaces, active transportation and good health. CicLAvia—West LA connects Santa Monica Blvd and Westwood Blvd, welcoming everyone of all ages and abilities to enjoy this day-long 3-mile pop-up park. Always free, participants will enjoy the day by walking, jogging, biking, skating, or simply spectating. Participants can show up anywhere along the route between 9am-4pm to enjoy the open streets, taking the time to explore, and enjoy a great day.

Imagine streets alive with joy, laughter, and the freedom to roam. CicLAvia is a nonprofit organization that has been opening streets throughout Los Angeles County since 2010, transforming city streets into a car-free celebration of community, connection, and possibility — places where participants can slow down, connect, and appreciate the city in a new way. CicLAvia is about reimagining our city streets as welcoming spaces for everyone — places for walking, running, rolling, spectating, and enjoying the moment.

CicLAvia—West LA includes two hubs filled with plenty of activities and programs. Hubs are walking zones (mandatory dismounts) and meeting points along the route and includes the Santa Monica Blvd Hub located on Santa Monica Blvd, west of Centinela; and the Westwood Hub on Westwood Blvd south of Le Conte. Hubs offer family-friendly activities, restrooms, free water refilling stations, free basic bike repair, bike parking, places to sit and meet up with friends and family, and first aid. Free pedicab rides are available at each hub’s information booth. In addition to the two hubs, there will be a Pit Stop on Santa Monica Blvd near Purdue Ave with water, restrooms, and free basic bike repair available.

“We’re excited to have our first CicLAvia of 2026 in West LA, in neighborhoods that will be experiencing CicLAvia for the first time. Opening streets to people reminds us that it’s about re-imagining what is possible and delivering what is memorable and transformative,” says CicLAvia Executive Director Romel Pascual. “This 3-mile route along Westwood Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd will be transformed as catalysts of connection, fueling community, supporting small businesses, and bringing family and friends together.”

Inspired by Bogotá’s weekly ciclovía, CicLAvia has been temporarily closing streets to car traffic and opening them as public parks in Los Angeles for over 15 years. CicLAvia car-free streets connect all of us to the neighborhoods where we live, work, shop, learn, and play. Active participants at CicLAvia use people-powered mobility to navigate public streets in a safe and joyful way. Along the way there is shopping at local businesses, access to cultural and architectural gems, using open streets as spaces to connect with each other, and making a positive impact on the environment by creating a more sustainable and climate resilient city and region. CicLAvia has helped communities re-imagine a greener and cleaner Los Angeles region, while also promoting equitable transportation options, healthier lifestyles, and closer connections to community.

Only people-powered vehicles are allowed. No electric scooters, electric skateboards, hoverboards, electric unicycles, motorcycles and other non-people-powered vehicles are allowed at CicLAvia. Class 1 e-bike pedal-assist allowed. Class 2 e-bikes are allowed when the throttle is powered off. Class 3 e-bikes are allowed when pedal-assist is powered off.
