One of Australia’s hottest acts, King Stingray brings their Yolŋu surf rock to Lodge.Room. in Highland Park Friday, August 22nd. The evening’s line up also features Riverside indie surfwave quartet, The Hayds and classic rock act High Flight from Pasadena. Doors open at 7pm, showtime is 8pm.
Prepare to dance and have a good time at one of LA’s most iconic music venues housed in a beautifully restored 1922 Masonic Lodge at the corner of Figueroa St. and N. Avenue 56. For dinner before the show check out Checker Hall, the vintage-era Mediterranean bistro next door. They serve an eclectic mix of live music, tasty food, draft beers and cocktails.
King Stingray is currently touring the US and Japan in support of their recent album For the Dreams. Hailing from NE Australia the band blends ancient indigenous melodies (Yolŋu Manikay) with surf, indie and funk influences to create their unique “Yolŋu surf-rock” sound which has captivated their country. Their debut LP ‘King Stingray’ got them nominated for five ARIA Awards (Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards.) In 2023 the band won the ‘Australian Music Prize and five singles from the album made it into triple j’s Hottest 100 making it the second most successful Aussie debuts in the history of the countdown.
