LA Premiere of New Horror Hit DEAD MAIL at ScreamFest

Los Angeles filmmakers, Joe DeBoer and Kyle McConaghy’s new festival favorite, Dead Mail has created a serious buzz among horror fans since its SXSW World Premiere earlier this year. This 80’s throwback suspense thriller will have its Los Angeles Premiere Tuesday October 15th, 9:30 PM at Screamfest Horror Film Festival at the historic TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood. There will be a Q&A with filmmakers and cast following the screening.

Co-written and directed by Joe DeBoer (BAB) and Kyle McConaghy (Moon Students, Sheeps Clothing) Dead Mail stars Sterling Macer, Jr. (Where the Crawdads Sing, Homefront, Sheep’s Clothing, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story), critically acclaimed Los Angeles actor, NEA4 member, and performing artist John Fleck (True Blood, Falling Down, Star Trek: Enterprise, Carnivàle), Tomas Boykin (Among Thieves, Haunting of Winchester House, Lazarus Rising, Elegy for a Revolutionary).

Supporting cast includes award winning LA stage veteran, Susan Priver (What’s up, Scarlet?, Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep, Lucky Louie, Mafioso), Micki Jackson (Drumline: A New Beat, The Greatest Showman Live: Come Alive) and Nick Heyman (Matters of Life and Death, Sheeps Clothing, Spring Break ‘83, Ambush).

The electronic score by composer Janet Beat, KerriAnne Savastano‘s costume design and Payton Jane’s production design perfects the film’s essence which William Earl at Variety said “Feels like a sinister VHS found deep in a midwest closet.” 

Screamfest Horror Film Festival was founded in Los Angeles by film producers Rachel Belofsky and Ross Martin in August 2001. It is the longest running festival of its kind in the US and stands at the heart of the horror festival genre. Countless new works from Indie American and international horror filmmakers have premiered at Screamfest. Films like Paranormal Activity, 30 Days of Night, The Grudge, South Korea’s A Tale Of Two Sisters, The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, Dead Ant and Diary of the Dead.
