New York Glam-Punk-Rock Firebrands BAD MARY Return This Fall

3 min read

You’re going to want to get up & dance till Christmas when you hear them unleash their fiery take on The Rocky Horror Picture Show classic TIME WARP!

New York, NY (October 20, 2025) New York glam-punk-rock firebrands Bad Mary return this fall with a string of new releases. On Tuesday, October 21 they drop a blazing cover of one of our favorite cult classics Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The track celebrates the film’s 50th anniversary and lands just in time for Halloween. Pre-save it HERE.

When asked about the cover, vocalist Amanda Mac shared: “I grew up doing theatre and always gravitated toward the weird rock musicals and rock operas, so Rocky Horror Picture Show was such an influence on me. I was going to a theater every week at midnight with my high school friends, covered in glitter, and it set the tone for everything I’ve tried to create since.”

Delivering a high-energy mix of punk grit and glam-soaked riffs, Bad Mary features powerhouse vocalist Amanda Mac, bassist Mike Staub, drummer Bill Mac, and guitarist David Henderson. The band has built a reputation for fearless live shows and infectious recordings, with a catalog spanning over a decade—from Better Days (2014) to their latest, Live on Long Island (2025).

A steady run of new music

Listeners can expect a steady run of new music: following “Time Warp” in October, Bad Mary will drop the original single “Mouth Fulla Fire” in November, and a seasonal twist on “Last Christmas” in December. They’ll kick off 2026 with additional new songs leading up to a new EP, Stitched. “Since we’re calling the eventual EP Stitched, the vibe is that we want it to feel like a stitched-together Frankenstein monster of what Bad Mary does! With “Mouth Fulla Fire” we’re embracing our punky and emo roots. We recently tested it live and were told it feels like Punk/Emo/Goth Pat Benatar—which I think is pretty cool,” says bassist Mike Staub.

In addition to releasing music, Bad Mary continues to champion the Long Island music and art scene—supporting local venues, fellow bands, and artists while injecting pure rock energy into every show. Staub shares, “Coming out of COVID, the local scene felt like it was on its last legs. Even in the years that followed, from 2021 through 2024, people seemed to have shifted away from going out—especially to see live music. But by early 2025, we noticed a change. Crowds were showing up again, and we kept seeing the same faces at our shows and at other bands’ gigs, both locally and in NYC. It felt like the scene was starting to rebuild, and we wanted to lean into that. Our mindset is simple: let’s make our home a destination. Let’s give bands great venues to play and bring out great crowds to support them. When we played AMH in July—on a Thursday night—the room was packed. People came early, stayed late, and showed love for every band. That’s the kind of energy we want to run with: bringing back the local scene and giving people a safe, fun place to experience the music they love.”

Beyond the band, members cultivate a wide range of artistic passions that fuel their creativity. Amanda is a staple of the local theater scene, most recently starring in a 2025 production of RENT. David, a Professor of Drama and Dance, brings deep knowledge of performance and stagecraft to Bad Mary’s shows and videos. Mike bridges music and pop culture as co-founder of the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo, a celebration of gaming history and community.

Bad Mary’s mission is simple: have fun, make noise, and help create a positive space to bring people together.
