Return to the Golden Age: Odyssey Theatre Explores 1950s Musicals

A Journey Through Landmark Innovations

The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble continues its acclaimed series, “The Complete History of American Musical Theater,” on August 8 at 8 p.m.. This installment focuses on the 1950s, exploring the landmark shows, songs, and innovations that defined the “Golden Age” of the American musical. 

Through a blend of engaging narration and live performances, the evening celebrates classics such as Guys and Dolls, The King and I, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, and The Music Man. The production is produced by Beth Hogan specifically for the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble.

A Tony-Nominated Lineup

The performance features a stellar cast, including Tony nominees Mary Gordon Murray and Rory O’Malley, alongside Eileen Barnett, Camryn Hamm, Scott Harlan, and Hayden Kharrazi. Providing historical context and storytelling throughout the evening are narrators Dan Fishbach and Mark D. Kaufmann.
