After a random and very unscientific poll, RabbleRouse News presents the First Annual Scary Movies We Love List for Halloween 2024 beginning with writer Mark Newton’s uniquely LA horror comedy Cholo Zombies. Directed by Eric Rafael Ibarra and Mark Newton, the film stars Vince Romo, Paul Rodriguez, Dinero100k, Carlos Carrasco and Loretta Vampz.
Cholo Zombies is a monstrously funny (and rousing) zombie love story set in LA. Zombie family man, Monstro (Vince Romo) is spreading the Cholo Zombie virus across L.A. and Dinero 100k and Sheriff Tom (Brian Eric Johnson) team up to stop it.

Next is 2009’s surprise cult hit, the Horror Comedy, Jennifer’s Body, Directed by Karyn Kusama, Written by Diablo Cody, Starring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried and Adam Brody. Megan Fox won the 2010 Teen Choice Award for Best Actress in a Horror/Thriller for her portrayal of Jennifer and Amanda Seyfreid won the 2010 MTV Movie Award for Best Scared-As-S**t Performance in Jennifer’s Body for her portrayal of Needy.

Just in time for Halloween, Coralie Fargeat’s trippy horror shocker, The Substance stars Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, Dennis Quaid. The Substance is now playing in theaters and begins streaming on MUBI Halloween, October 31st. John Landis’s 1981 comedy horror classic An American Werewolf in London stars David Naughton and Griffin Dunne as Americans who are attacked by a werewolf while backpacking through Yorkshire. We love this movie, it has the most unforgettable human to werewolf transformation in film history. In fact makeup artist Rick Baker won the very first Academy Award for Best Makeup and the film was inspiration for Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” which Landis directed.
