Alternative Tentacles Signs Nasalrod for New 7-Inch Release ‘Friends’
Nasalrod has joined forces with Alternative Tentacles Records and Nadine Records to release Friends, a wildly anticipated new two-song 7-inch vinyl single. Delivering a demented, darkly humorous take on human connection, the 45 RPM release explores the true meaning of camaraderie alongside the eerie motives that can lurk directly behind a friendly face.
Collaborative Punk
Hailing from the Pacific Northwest underground, Nasalrod has earned a reputation for unpredictable, high-octane live performances and an unhinged creative vision. Famed underground icon Lydia Lunch once described the band’s sound as “harsh, hard… catchy, weird, arty” and “a very unique blend that defies category.” That collaborative punk chaos is led by Chairman’s sneering, soulful vocal style, expanded by Mustin Douch’s dexterous guitar explosions, anchored by Mandy Morgan’s authoritative bass lines, and driven by the relentless precision of founding FEAR drummer Spit Stix. Together, the quartet fuses spazz-punk agility, warped melodies, and convulsive rock and roll.

“What Are Friends For?”
The upcoming Friends 7-inch features a brand-new rendition of FEAR’s classic track “What Are Friends For?”, originally written by Spit Stix himself. This reworked recording finally realizes Stix’s intended vision for the song. Paired with the melodic intensity of “Behind Friendly Faces,” the two tracks deliver contrasting perspectives on friendship powered by theatrical energy, twisted humor, and explosive musicianship. Nasalrod’s ferocious style has long been on Jello Biafra’s radar, particularly following their 2024 split release In The Modern Meatspace with Victim’s Family on Nadine Records. Beyond signing with Alternative Tentacles, the band has built a formidable profile sharing stages with legendary acts including The Jesus Lizard, Mudhoney, Melt-Banana, Mike Watt, Alice Donut, and Iggy Pop.
Vinyl Release
Recorded at Portland’s famed Jackpot! Recording Studio by Larry Crane (known for his work with Sleater-Kinney, Cat Power, and Elliott Smith, as well as founding Tape Op Magazine) and mixed and mastered by Stephan Hawkes (Red Fang, High on Fire, Gaytheist), the Friends 45 captures Nasalrod’s signature brand of sonic insanity in crisp detail.
The 7-inch vinyl arrives on November 13, 2026 pre-order it HERE. Wide release copies on standard black vinyl will be available through Alternative Tentacles and Nadine Records, while an exclusive limited artist edition on red vinyl will be sold directly at Nasalrod live shows and via the Alternative Tentacles Patreon.
