New Music Spotlight: Mindful, Catchy, and Magnificent! The Hustle and Leave the Light On from a soulful new album, The Chariot

Bands from Minneapolis never cease to amaze us; their sense of community and wealth of talent have inspired us for decades. This spirit is perfectly embodied by the duo Sawtooth Witch, who are set to release their debut album, The Chariot, April 24, 2026 on both vinyl and streaming platforms.

Comprised of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Pat ‘Doc’ Dougherty and fiddle player Haley Fleming, the band offers a sound they describe as a soulful blend of the “American songbook,” ranging from hill-country blues to cosmic country and even touches of house music.

The album is a true product of the local creative community, recorded and engineered by Holly Hansen at Salon Sonics in Minneapolis, mixed by Nat Harvie, and featuring vinyl printed by the local shop Outta Wax. This collaborative effort has already resulted in significant critical acclaim; the lead single “The Hustle” was named “Best New Music” by MSP Magazine, RACKET, and 89.3 The Current in 2025. Alongside “The Hustle,” the track“Leave the Light On” stands out as a “mindful” and catchy highlight that showcases Doc’s exceptional vocals and Fleming’s impressive fiddle work.

The Release Celebration

The celebration of this release continues with a “double whammy” event on Saturday, April 25th, at The Hook & Ladder in Minneapolis. This show serves as both the official album release party and the 400th-episode celebration of Doc’s KFAI radio show,The Desert Islands. Reflecting the vibrant Minneapolis scene, the lineup features supporting acts Jillian Rae and Sleeping Jesus. Doors open at 7:00 PM, and more information can be found at www.sawtoothwitch.com
