“OPHELIA” Bends Time at the Odyssey Theatre

“Mom is moving into memory care and wants her middle-aged son to procreate before she goes.” The World Premiere of Ophelia written and directed by Stefan Marks is now playing through May 18th at the Odyssey Theatre in West LA. The play stars Deborah Geffner as MOM, Tatum Langton as HER and Stefan Marks as SON. Ophelia is an “existential dramedy taking the audience on a time-shifting journey of tragedy, love, dementia, beat poets, strippers, blood spatter, doppelgängers, saying goodbye and ultimately finding one’s destiny in the quest to fix a “broken life.”

While F. Kathleen Foley at Stage Raw called it “…a confusing jumble of a play.” Steve Stanley of StageSceneLA wrote “Marks’ comedic three-hander offers much to savor… absorbing and magical, “Sika Lonner at the Larchmont Buzz calls Ophelia “...off-beat, charming, and the most hopeful production about dementia I’ve ever seen.” And Broadway World’s Melissa Heckscher declares “Ophelia — in all its memory lapses and uncomfortable places — is worth it.“
