Punk Supergroup Hits the Road with New Album, New Guitarist and Unrelenting Energy

Ultrabomb, the ferocious international punk supergroup, is set to storm the stage this week with the Ultrabob 5000 West Coast Tour, in support of their latest release, Dying to Smile (2024, DC-Jam Records). With a lineup packed with punk rock pedigree and a newly expanded schedule of dates, the band is primed to deliver one of the year’s most explosive tours. You can see them in Los Angeles June 17th at Zebulon.

Joining them on the Ultrabob 5000 West Coast Tour is Dead Bob, the solo incarnation of John Wright, the drummer and co-founder of the long-running and widely respected Canadian punk band NoMeansNo. Though NMN is now retired, Wright’s new project carries forward his legacy of sharp musicianship and boundary-pushing punk energy.

Ultrabomb’s legacy is already cemented, thanks to the unmatched pedigree of its members. On bass is Greg Norton, a founding member of the trailblazing Hüsker Dü, whose influence helped shape the sound of American punk rock and inspired generations of artists including The Pixies, Green Day, and Foo Fighters. Behind the drums is Derek O’Brien, best known for his work with Social Distortion, who has been a driving force in the genre through his contributions to seminal bands like Agent Orange, Adolescents, and DI.

And now, Ultrabomb adds a powerful new dimension with the addition of Ryan Smith (guitar). A veteran musician, songwriter, and producer, Smith is known for his work with Soul Asylum. His dynamic presence and deep roots in punk and indie rock make him a natural fit for Ultrabomb’s raw and high-voltage sound.

“It’s always a pleasure to hear punk and indie royalty still sounding as great and vital as Ultrabomb sounds here.” If It’s Too Loud

Punk Rock Bowling

Ultrabomb is also scheduled for a one-off show during Punk Rock Bowling, performing at the Punk Rock Saves Lives event at Hogs and Heifers on Saturday, May 24. Don’t miss this special appearance as the band brings its high-energy set to one of the most meaningful side events of the weekend.

From legendary punk haunts to skate parks and DIY sanctuaries, Ultrabomb is bringing their no-compromise live show to fans across the West Coast. With a recent critically-acclaimed album, a revitalized lineup, and an unshakable mission to deliver raw, uncompromising rock, this tour is not to be missed.

A personalized tour of the Punk Rock Museum

In addition, fans will have a rare opportunity to connect with punk rock history: Greg Norton will be offering personalized tours of the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas on May 22, 23, and 24. This is your chance to explore the museum alongside a true legend—learn about the genre from the inside with insights from a founding member of Hüsker Dü.
