A collaborative exhibition exploring the streets, structures, and stories of the city through 100+ artists perspectives

A major new collaborative exhibition is set to debut this summer, offering a multi-faceted exploration of the narratives that define Los Angeles. Titled “dear artists… Los Angeles — Streets, Structures & Stories,” the project is a partnership between Band of Vices and the Helms Design District. Running from June 27 through July 25, 2026, the exhibition features the work of more than 100 artists who delve into the city’s identity through its iconic architecture, neighborhood landmarks, and personal histories.

A Collective Portrait of Los Angeles

The exhibition aims to examine how Los Angeles is experienced, remembered, and imagined by its inhabitants. By utilizing a diverse range of mediums—including painting, photography, mixed media, and sculptural works—the participating artists offer a collective portrait of the metropolis. The focus extends beyond the physical structures of the city, highlighting the people and the stories that animate these urban spaces.

A Dialogue Between Art and Architecture

By presenting the exhibition across two distinct venues, the organizers hope to foster a dialogue between art, architecture, design, and community. The two locations are:

  • Band of Vices: Located in the Historic Downtown Los Angeles Arts District.
  • Helms Design Center: Situated on the historic Helms Bakery campus in Culver City.

This dual-site approach invites visitors to consider how creative expression influences our understanding of “place” and how individual stories contribute to the city’s broader, evolving identity.

Double Opening Weekend

The exhibition will celebrate its launch with two separate opening receptions, each featuring completely different works. Attendees are encouraged to visit both locations to experience the full scope of the exhibition:

  • Saturday, June 27 (2 pm – 5 pm): Opening reception at Band of Vices (1700 S. Santa Fe Avenue, Suite 371, Los Angeles).
  • Sunday, June 28 (2 pm – 5 pm): Opening reception at Helms Design District (8745 Washington Blvd, Culver City).

Whether through a lens of nostalgia or a vision of the future, “dear artists… Los Angeles” promises to be a comprehensive look at the layered narratives that make the city unique.
