World Premiere of Medical Thriller “The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg” Takes on Ominous New Relevance After Landmark Supreme Court Ruling
The uncanny intersection of art and our nations new judicial reality
In a moment that feels both uncanny and unsettling for public safety, the world premiere of “The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg” arrives at the Dances With Films LA this weekend, just 48 hours after the Supreme Court’s June 25 decision in Monsanto v. Durnell.
While legal experts and the public grapple with a ruling that many fear could dismantle decades of protection against corporate negligence, this new film offers a visceral look at the human cost of unregulated corporate greed. Described as “Erin Brockovich meets The Constant Gardener,” the thriller is inspired by a true story involving “greed, power, lies, tragedy, danger, and death”.
Profit at any cost
The film follows the harrowing journey of Amanda Bellaconda (Hannah Fierman) as she seeks to understand the sudden suicide of her son. Her investigation leads her to Dr. Jack Forteo (Andy Evans), who discovers a potential link between a rash of teenage suicides and Carinaderm, a billion-dollar acne medication.
As Dr. Forteo unearths evidence of a potentially lethal side effect, he becomes the target of a ruthless legal team that employs personal attacks and accusations of fraud to protect their “golden egg”. This corporate deception pushes Forteo’s marriage and professional career to the brink of collapse.

Real-world inspiration
The film’s narrative is deeply rooted in the professional experiences of its writer, producer, and director, Doug Bremner. A professor and researcher, Bremner conducted real-world brain imaging studies on the effects of acne medication, eventually serving as an expert witness in multi-district litigation regarding depression and suicide in teenagers.
The film screens Saturday, June 27 at 3:45 PM at TCL Chinese Theater 4 in Hollywood. Tickets are available through the Dances With Films website.
