King of the rockn’ blues guitar, Gregg Wright & Friends will take the stage at The Write-off Room, Saturday, November 16th. Wright began his career in the 70’s touring the US Southern Circuit often opening for the biggest national touring acts. “I was privileged to work and learn around greatness!” says Gregg. He credits musicians Albert King and Freddie King with encouraging and energizing him as he learned and honed his craft by watching them play during that time.
In the 1980s he moved to Los Angeles and became a sought after top session and touring player, renowned in L.A. He has toured extensively on his own, with Mick Fleetwood, The Gap Band, Berlin, Spencer Davis and Michael Jackson, as part of the Jackson Victory Tour in 1984.
Blues Matters UK said “Gregg Wright is in the top echelons of the world’s great Blues guitarists!” He was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2013, received the prestigious Albert King Lifetime Award as the World’s Outstanding Blues guitarist of 2021 and in 2019 the City of Los Angeles. presented Wright with the “Living Legend” Blues Award.
