The Minor Toughs: Underground Nashville Indie Rock Band Releases Trio of New EPs

Our friends at Neurotic City recently introduced us to Nashville underground indie rock outfit The Minor Toughs, and we owe them a massive thank you. The band just released three new, self-produced, five-song EPs: Maybe You Can Make It, Burn Out City, and Look Alive. Each record delivers a completely unique style and substance, meaning there is a soundtrack here for almost every occasion.

Look Alive: A Loud and Fuzzy Punk-Psych Affair

The Look Alive EP is a big, loud, noisy, and fuzzy affair. It blends elements of psych, punk, and space rock into a sonic cocktail you will want to play over and over. The title track stands out as an infectious sing-along we would love to catch live, while “Supernaught Jr.” makes it absolutely impossible to not get up and dance.

Burn Out City: Country Roots with a Rock-and-Roll Edge

In contrast, Burn Out City is the band’s gritty version of a country record, complete with tales of heartaches, hangovers, and heretics. The EP closes out with a stellar cover of the Drivin’ N Cryin’ classic “Let’s Go Dancing”—a rallying call to stand up to anyone who would prefer you to keep sitting down.

Maybe You Can Make It: Atmospheric Anthems Born from an Ice Storm

After living in Los Angeles for a long time, it is easy to forget that ice storms can be a bone-breaking, car-crashing hell. However, they can also serve as a catalyst for brilliant art and that is what this EP is. The band wrote and recorded Maybe You Can Make It when Winter Storm Fern unleashed an unholy ice storm on the Nashville area in early 2026. The result is a diverse, moody, and expansive suite of songs. Our favorite tracks on this release are the title track and the existential groove of “What Is It that We’re Doing Here.”

Nashville Veterans Independent and Fierce

Band members Ryan Ervin (The Carter Administration, Spider Virus) and Andy Snyder (Hands Down Eugene, Falls City Angels) are no strangers to collaboration. The duo has been playing together in some combination since the raucous, close-knit, cigarette-and-whiskey-infused indie rock scene of Nashville in the early aughts.

The Minor Toughs operate as a completely self-contained rock-and-roll unit. They write, record, and produce all of their own music and artwork independently. You already know what to do: support independent artists by buying their music and merchandise directly.
