Out of the Clink and Into the Spotlight: Diane’s Scandalous Hollywood Return
Hollywood has seen its share of star-studded comebacks, but none quite as notorious or colorful as the arrival of Diane. This June, the Skiptown Playhouse will host the world premiere of “Diane, Diane! The Parole of a Lifetime,” a 50-minute comedic tour de force appearing as part of the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
The show centers on Diane, a devilish lounge singer who is freshly out of “the clink” after a strategic decision to rat on her cellmate. Far from being humbled by her time away, Diane is more determined than ever to reclaim her place in the limelight. She isn’t doing it alone, either; she is accompanied on the keys by Reggie, who holds the complicated dual title of her current lover and her ex-husband.
Lunacy, Love Affairs, and Audience Interaction
Audiences can expect a whirlwind of hijinks, humor, and audience interaction. Diane relies on a potent mix of “pipes, sex appeal, wit, [and] glamour” to win over her fans, weaving tales of torrid love affairs between performances of popular hits. The production is specifically designed for anyone looking for the “crowning jewel” of their evening, whether they are industry insiders with “columns and connections” or fans looking for a night of lunacy.
The show is the brainchild of Elissa Luma (star and co-writer) and Natasha Mercado (director and co-writer). Luma is a seasoned veteran of the comedy circuit, with a background in sketch and improv spanning Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. Her previous credits include successful runs of Work Bitch and Witch in the Woods, as well as performances with The Pack Theater and ComedySportz. Interestingly, she also holds the unique distinction of once being called “the cutest little baby” by Tom Selleck.
