Ska-punk legends celebrate neurodiversity as “Attention To Creativity” in a new animated video and announce North American tour dates; tickets go on sale this Friday, May 29

Boston ska-punk legends Big D and the Kids Table have just unveiled their latest single and music video, “Scatterbrain,” a vibrant anthem for the neurodivergent community. This release serves as the final precursor to their highly anticipated upcoming album, The Good Ole American Saturday Night, set to drop on June 12, 2026, via SideOneDummy Records.

“Attention To Creativity”: The Meaning Behind “Scatterbrain”

Moving away from the “disorder” label often associated with ADHD, frontman Dave McWane uses “Scatterbrain” to reframe neurodivergence as a gift. Drawing from his own childhood experiences in specialized schools, McWane suggests a new acronym: ATC – Attention To Creativity.

“Obviously the person who titled these gifts didn’t have them,” McWane says, noting that the song is a celebration of the “brave mutants” who have been marginalized by traditional systems. The track itself balances the band’s signature punchy horns and restless rhythms with a melodic urgency that turns personal struggle into a joyful celebration.

An Animated Journey into the Creative Mind

The accompanying music video for “Scatterbrain,” created by Empire Animate, captures the song’s “laidback reggae groove” through a poignant lens. It visually depicts the overstimulation and alienation that can accompany neurodivergence, ultimately transforming those feelings into a hopeful message of self-acceptance and individuality. Produced by ska royalty Joe Gittleman (The Mighty Mighty BossToneS) and Matt Appleton (Reel Big Fish), the new LP finds the band sounding more energized than ever, even 30 years into their career. “Scatterbrain” follows previously released singles “Whiplash” and “Right Now,” rounding out an album that promises “joyful chaos” and “emotional sincerity”.
