This Saturday, April 18 music lovers around the world will celebrate one of our favorite days of the year, Record Store Day. On this day, exclusive, limited-edition vinyl and CD releases, live performances, artist meet-and-greets, and in-store parties are a joyful occasion for vinyl collectors and local music communities. The official list for Record Store Day 2026 will be released at participating record stores all over the world as part of the celebration. So get out and support your local indie record store!

At Los Angeles’ Amoeba Records a few titles on their RSD list that caught our eye are a 7″ releases of Dropkick Murphys / Outlets: Knock Me Down, Demi Lovato’s Frequency and one of our favorites from Paul Weller: When Your Gardens Overgrown / Boy About Town. Arcade Fire is releasing the LP Open Your Heart Or Die Trying and there’s a cobalt blue LP from The Blasters of Rare Blasts: Studio Outtakes And Movie Music, hell yes! History of RSD

The music lovers holiday began April 19, 2008 as a way to celebrate the culture of brick and mortar Independent Record Stores. It is observed all over the world, usually on the third Saturday of April and in November on Black Friday in the US. The cult favorite film Empire Records famous battle cry “Damn the Man! Save the Empire” is legend in the fight against corporate takeovers of independent shops.
