National Poetry Month Spotlight: Morris Williams, Local Poet
Local Poet Morris Williams poems “Empty…” and “Lenawee Street” presented on laundry room bulletin board somewhere in Los Angeles for National Poetry Month 2025
Empty…
She sits between a knook
On a cold wind driven blvd.
Called Ventura – in Sherman Oaks
Eyes sadden by her current despair
Soul empty as she shudders
Against the cold fierce night air
While just sitting there…

Lenawee Street
I woke up this morning to a bird song
Hurrying, I put on clothes, scooted outdoors
To my surprise, right before my eyes
It was snowing on Lenawee Street
Snow was fresh and cold
The trees were naked and bold
As I walked along Lenawee Street
I walked west to the park
And gazed at the magnificent view
I walked east toward downtown
All traces of autumn were through
I walked and walked along Lenawee Street
I forgot to put on my boots
To keep the snow off my feet
As I walked up and down Lenawee Street
